Psychological Evaluations

Our psychological/neuropsychological evaluations and services are designed to support development, family relationships, self-regulation, social-emotional functioning, and long-term mental health in children and teens four to 18 years old. Services include:

Consultation

We can provide consultation in-person, over the phone, or through a HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platform to address questions and concerns that caregivers may have about their child’s development and behavior. In addition, we can review the child’s previous evaluations, with special consideration to the needs of children with a history of prenatal substance exposure, trauma, or family mental health issues.

Psychological/Educational Screenings

Many parents and caregivers have concerns about their child’s development, educational performance, or how life events have affected their child’s functioning. Psychological and educational screenings use clinical interviews, standardized measures, and other available information (e.g., from records and/or consultation with CRT’s pediatrician) to screen for various learning, behavioral, and mental health issues, such as learning disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety-related concerns, depression, trauma-related disorders, and other diagnoses. We provide recommendations to support your child’s development at the conclusion of each screening.

Comprehensive Psychological Evaluations

CRT’s team of evaluation professionals includes psychologists, a neuropsychologist and a pediatrician. Evaluations include an in-depth assessment of the child’s intellectual functioning, learning, adaptive functioning, motor skills, sensory processing, language, executive functioning, and/or social-emotional development, as well as a physical examination with the pediatrician. You will receive feedback on your child’s performance and needs, as well as recommendations for services and/or activities. A written report will be provided that you may share with teachers, clinicians and others supporting your child’s ongoing development.

Parent Education

We can provide individual or group parent education about a wide range of subjects, such as typical child development, preterm infant development, the effects of prenatal substance exposure, developmental delays, birth challenges and health problems that can impact development, sleep problems, feeding and nutrition, developmentally appropriate discipline, behavior concerns (e.g., temper tantrums, aggressive behavior, bullying, etc.), trauma, and adjustment to family transitions. We can also provide information about various diagnoses, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
